Peter W. Singer has written a very interesting book on the future of armed conflict and how it is already drastically changing how wars are fought and how often.  More pilots are being trained to fly drones than to fly standard combat planes.  Drones are already accomplishing more kills than any other combat plane flown traditionally.  Some of these drone pilots do not even have high school degrees but yet through their video game skills are perfectly geared for this kind of piloting.
