Mobile Paradigm Shift....

The world of the mobile device, will eventually take over most of the computer market.  Already, the predictions for its growth, are startling.

"We have often said that the next generation will grow up knowing the Web mostly through their mobile phones," John von Tetzchner, Opera co-founder
Today, there was an article which made some predictions of the growth of the mobile device market, in the New York Times.  Here, are the facts, that were released from a study by Opera, the makers of a mobile web browser.

ReadWriteWeb quotes the following information from this study:
1.  Almost 90% of respondents in the United States aged 18-27 have used their phones to share pictures.
2.  Of the profiled countries, Vietnam -- at 67% -- had the lowest use of mobile phones to share pictures.
3.  Respondents in the United States are least likely to have asked someone out on a date via SMS (44%)
4.  Respondents in China (84%), Germany (84%) and Vietname (83%) are most likely to have used SMS texts to ask someone out on date.
5.  Generation Y in both China and the United States share a disdain for printed newspapers, 53% of respondents in the United States and 57% of respondents in China rarely or never read physical newspapers.
6.  Watch your privacy policies, Respondents in South Africa (49%) and the United States (44%) were somewhat to very uncomfortable sharing their personal information online.

This points to a paradigm shift, which is completely logical, to miniaturization.  The progression we believe that will be followed will be this:
1.  Desktop to Laptop (this is already happening)
2.  Laptop to Smart Phone (this is underway)
3.  Smart Phone to Smart Clothes (you will wear your computer)
4.  Smart Clothes to Enhanced Human Being (you will be merged with the computer)

Some of these stages may happen at the same time, but that they will happen, is inevitable.  To show the points I have made.  The report goes on to say that the Smart Phone market has grown 128% in the top 11 countries of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).  Just in the Opera Mobile Browser alone, worldwide, there has been a 142% increase in its page views.

The writing is on the wall for the mobile advance.

I cannot agree with your statement that computers will be worn. Although innovative, I don't believe it is entirely practical, even for an advanced civilization. It would be almost haphazard to have your personal gadgetry attached to an item you routinely take off & change the style of (not to mention expensive). Novelty pieces, or perhaps a device that could be transferred from item to item coulld prove beneficial, but given our species biology, wearing computerized clothing would be far too impractical & risky.

Good point! If this kind of computer were one of the type we are thinking of now, then I would completely agree with you. However, as prices of chips and computing power come down, these wearable devices will be integrated in all clothing. At first, they will be used for generic purposes, but after time, you will be able to customize them for your own purposes and "sync" them with your other clothing. We are talking about a generation of advancements for this to take place, but it seems to me, to be inevitable and logical. Thanks for posting your thoughts!

When is the actual iphone five most likely to come out? I have verizon and would like to get the iphone when my own agreement expires in June, I would like to find out if the iphone five is coming out at any time in the future, for the reason that if so, I might stick it out lengthier to acquire that instead of the apple iphone 4.
